Christmas Game Ideas for Kids
There’s no shortage of Christmas games for kids, but these are the ones I keep coming back to when I need quick laughs, easy setup, and zero awkward moments. They’re perfect for breaking the ice and getting kids giggling fast.
Here’s a list of fun, quick, and easy Christmas crafts and games everyone can participate in to get things moving along!

My Personal Favorite: Christmas Minute to Win It Games
Minute to Win It–style games are always a hit. They’re quick, silly, and way more engaging than pulling out a board game no one really wants to play.
We played a few at a recent gathering, and while it took a minute for everyone to warm up, once they did, the room was full of laughter. The games we played included:
They’re fast to explain, easy to set up, and keep kids moving without needing complicated rules.

Merry Fishmas: A Crowd Favorite
We also played a version of Merry Fishmas recently, and the kids absolutely loved it. It’s one of my favorite Christmas party games because it takes almost no time to prepare and works for a wide age range.
To play, kids use a simple “fishing pole” to hook large candy canes spread across the floor. That’s it. Simple, silly, and surprisingly competitive.
Our version is especially easy to put together. Even from one photo, you can tell how low-prep this game really is. If you want to dress it up a bit, you can create a festive “pond” using a display board or even cut decorations with a Cricut, but it’s just as fun without the extras.

Many include video instructions, which makes setup even easier.
Skills Kids Practice While Playing Christmas Games
Beyond the fun, these games help kids work on essential skills like:
- Fine motor control
- Gross motor movement

- Sorting
More importantly, they help children practice social skills and cooperation, and spend meaningful time with family and friends, which matters just as much during the holidays.
