Bible Quotes for Families:

Verses About Raising Children

Teach children how they should live, and they will remember it all their life.

Proverbs 22:6

This is one of those passages I return to whenever I feel lost as a parent. It reminds us that our job isn’t just feeding and clothing our kids – we show them how to live good lives.

Kids learn by watching us. They see how we handle stress, how we treat others, and how we practice our faith. When we model good behavior, those lessons stick with them for years.

The wonderful thing about this verse is that it gives us hope. Even when parenting feels impossible, our consistent teaching makes a difference in the long run!

Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.

Proverbs 22:6

This wisdom tells us that our early guidance shapes our children’s future! It’s about helping kids discover their unique gifts and strengths.

Each child has their own path; our job is to help them find it while teaching them God’s ways. This takes patience and paying attention to who they are.

I find comfort in knowing that even if our kids stray sometimes, the foundation we build stays with them. The seeds we plant now will grow throughout their lives!

Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the LORD your God is giving you.

Exodus 20:12

This commandment reminds kids and grown-ups alike to respect their parents. It’s the first commandment with a promise attached to it.

Teaching children to honor their parents builds character and creates harmony in the home. It helps kids understand the authority and respect they’ll need throughout life.

This verse can gently remind parents that we should live honorably, too. We want to be the kind of parents who deserve respect for our words and deeds!

Verses About Family Love

Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves.

Romans 12:10

Isn’t this just what family is all about? Putting others first changes everything in a family! This verse challenges us to care about each other’s needs honestly.

Amazing things happen when everyone in the family tries to outdo each other in showing honor. Arguments decrease, joy increases, and the home becomes peaceful.

I’ve seen this work in my own family when we focus more on serving than being served. Those are always our happiest days!

Above everything, love one another earnestly, because love covers over many sins.

1 Peter 4:8

Family life brings plenty of mistakes and hurt feelings! This verse gives us the perfect solution – love that’s strong enough to forgive.

Loving “earnestly” means loving with effort and intention, not just when it’s easy. It’s choosing to love even when someone makes mistakes or hurts us.

When we practice this love at home, we create a safe place where everyone knows they’re accepted, even when they mess up. That’s the kind of family everyone wants!

Bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive.

Colossians 3:13

Living under one roof means we’ll bump into each other’s faults daily! This verse reminds us that patience and forgiveness keep families strong.

“Bearing with one another” speaks to me as a parent. Some days, we all get on each other’s nerves! But choosing patience changes everything.

Forgiveness in families needs to be constant and generous – just like God’s forgiveness toward us. When kids see parents quickly forgive each other, they learn this vital skill, too!

Managing a family doesn’t mean controlling everyone. It’s about guiding with love, setting healthy boundaries, and creating an environment where everyone can thrive.

This verse challenges parents to take their role seriously and recognize that family leadership matters to God!

In the same way husbands should love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself.

-Ephesians 5:28

Marriage forms the foundation of family life, and this verse shows husbands how to love well! When spouses take care of each other, the whole family benefits.

This verse describes a selfless love in which husbands care for their wives as carefully as they care for themselves. This creates security and trust.

I love how practical this advice is – it’s not just about feelings but about actions that show love daily!

Submitting to one another out of reverence for Christ.

-Ephesians 5:21

Family life works best when everyone looks out for each other. This verse demonstrates the attitude that makes families thrive.

Submitting to one another means listening, compromising, and considering what’s best for the whole family. It’s about mutual respect, not a power struggle.

When families practice this verse, decisions become collaborative rather than combative. Everyone feels valued and heard!

Verses About God’s Family Promise

And you shall rejoice in all the good that the Lord your God has given to you and to your house, you, and the Levite, and the sojourner who is among you.

Deuteronomy 26:11

Here’s a beautiful reminder to celebrate what God has given our families! Gratitude changes how we see our everyday lives together.

This verse encourages us to include others in our family celebrations, too – not just keeping blessings to ourselves but sharing with others.

Making thankfulness a family habit helps everyone notice God’s goodness, even during tough times!

And I will be a father to you, and you shall be sons and daughters to me, says the Lord Almighty.

2 Corinthians 6:18

God promises to be our perfect Father! This verse shows God created human families to reflect His relationship with us.

When earthly families fail us (and they all do sometimes), we can find comfort in knowing we’re also part of God’s family. He never disappoints as a Father.

This verse helps parents remember that they’re not alone in raising their kids—we have a heavenly Father guiding us along the way!

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

John 3:16

This is the most extraordinary family story ever told! God’s sacrifice of His Son shows us what family love is: giving our best to each other.

This famous passage reminds us that God better understands family bonds and sacrificial love than anyone. He designed us for close relationships.
